My wife is going to start carrying hopefully soon here. She will be doing some one on one with a solid female trainer out here, and women's classes (without me). We are both lefties. We have 3 kids under 5 - 5/3/ and 10 months) - my home pistol is G19, and my EDC is 43x. I'm hoping she goes 43x or 48, or even Glock 19 for Glock consistency. We do have a P365X as well but I trust Sig less and less these days... Should I let this go, and have her consider other options (get out of the way of her decision/process)? I'm thinking she may feel better with a manual safety on the Rose P365s or Hellcat Pro - but Glock seems so simple and practical to me. Any thoughts for those with wives with little ones at home? Women with young kids are a bit spacey, overwhelmed, and always carting around loads of mom gear ... I think someone who solves for this well makes bank.
EDC - Women with young kids
I bought a P365 X Macro for my wife because it's the "it" carry gun. She hates the way it shoots in here hand. You stated it best, "get out of the way of her decision/process." The Classic Firearms YouTube channel has a video by a women, for women that gives recommendations. The Honest Outlaw (because his wife shoots with him) gives her perspective on guns they test fire. She even has her own channel, Mrs Outlaw.
I myself used to be a big Glock fan, but in the last few years I've been collecting Caniks. Personally, I find them just as reliable but they shoot way better, have a more ergonomic grip, and more are affordable. Depending on her hand size and strength the MC9 series might be worth a look. Another potential is the Smith and Wesson bodyguard 2.0. It's chambered in .380 and it is more of a pocket carry, but it shoots nice.
Most will recommend taking her to the range and renting a few pistols for her to try. I would add, to have her talk to another woman behind the counter instead of a dude. She needs someone she can identify with.
